This page lists changes to vRigger's gear. You can view all of the gear that is available in vRigger (or see samples of the gear). You can also view changes to the vRigger program.

You can determine revision date of your gear by choosing About vRigger from the Help icon Help icon. You can install the latest gear by clicking on Check for Updates on the Insert tab of the Ribbon (or by manually installing the latest version).

To specify which gear should be displayed in the Gear Panes, click on Check for Updates on the Insert tab of the Ribbon and then choose the Gear Panes tab.

 
 March 1, 2011 (Version 8.0 Major Upgrade)
 
Version 8.0 was a major upgrade to the application and added 29 new pieces of gear. View the gear that was added to version 8.0.
 
 April 21, 2010 (Version 7.0 Moderate Update)
 
This gear update adds seven new pieces of gear. Many of these items do not appear in the Gear panel automatically. As mentioned above, after installing this update choose Options | Gear Panel from vRigger's Tools menu to specify which gear you want displayed in the Gear panel.
 
Two versions of the Black Diamond ATC-Guide were added. The gear titled "ATC (Guide, braking)" displays the ATC in the traditional rappel/belay position, and the gear titled "ATC (Guide, locking)" in position to bring up one or two secondary climbers. You can read about the ATC-Guide here.

 April 24, 2009 (Moderate Update)
 

This update added the following helicopter-related gear:

  • Helicopter (MCA, 1)
  • Helicopter (USCG)
  • Helicopter (MCA, 2)
  • Basket (Rescue 1)
  • Helicopter (MCA, 3)
  • Man (hanging 2)

This update included the following minor changes to existing gear:

  • Updated the following ascenders: ASAP (Petzl), Ascender (Gibbs), Ascender (ISC/Troll), Ascender (left), and Ascender (right).
  • Updated the Chain (rigid) so both ends of the chain can "open" (which allows either to connect to the Chain (end)).
  • Updated the Link (Petzl Demi), Link (Petzl Oval), Link (screw), and Link (tri) so they can connect to Chain (flexible). (Working with the flexible chain is tricky; be sure to read the Help file.)
  • Updated the strength of the Winch (Stagemaker).
  • Renamed "Man (hanging)" to "Man (hanging 1)".
 January 30, 2009 (Minor Update)
 
This maintenance release improves the Petzl I'D and Grigri.
 
 January 19, 2009 (Major Upgrade)
 
Version 7.0 was a major upgrade that added 72 new pieces of gear. You can view the changes to version 7.0 or look at all of vRigger's gear.
 
 November 13, 2007 (Update)
 
The November 13, 2007 gear update adds a "rope gap," a "rope break" and a "Petzl Stop."

You can download this update by choosing Check for Gear Updates from vRigger's Help menu.

 

 June 1, 2007 (Version 6.0 Major Upgrade)
 
Gear, gear, gear! That's the story with version 6.0. Approximately 50 pieces of gear were added to version 6.0 bringing the total to 190. And beginning with version 6.0, you no longer need to download each piece of gear individually because vRigger automatically installs all of the gear.

Be sure to choose Tools, Options, and Gear Panel to select the gear that you want displayed in the Gear Panel.
